Nathalie Tierce was born in New York City and began her career in the visual arts with a focus on illustration. She graduated from The High School of Art and Design in 1985 and went on to Pratt Institute to receive a BFA in Painting. She also studied drawing at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux Arts in Paris.
After graduating art college she began working as a scenic artist in Europe. Painting portraits and large scale backings for The BBC and feature films she spent the next decade refining her craft painting in different period styles and subjects.
Moving to Los Angeles in 1999 she began working on site specific art works for both private and public spaces in Japan and Europe to miniatures for Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland" and Martin Scorsese's "Shutter Island".
No longer painting for the film industry she divides her time between her studio, freelancing as a color consultant and at home with her husband Chris and son Joshua.
