I found this piece of wood in a pile of off-cuts—broken, discarded, half-buried in dust. But the silhouette stopped me. The torn edge read like a profile. A single knot held its place like an eye.
I brought it to the studio, and the figure emerged slowly: part human, part badger, wearing a collar, looking past us toward something we can’t see. A quiet creature. Someone who’s lived through a few things. There is a tenderness in him, but also a distance. A wildness, but also restraint.
This piece is available. 30” x 18” x 2”. Contact me if he speaks to you.
